Choose the news that you like to teach, and then click the heading.
You will see lessons and a lot of activities that your student can enjoy!
Look at the 26-page lesson! They can be used right away and save you a lot of time.
Let's take a loot at the Listen section! The Dictation is perfect for students preparing IELTS!
Why? Because the students can practice listening and spelling at the same time!
Follow the instruction 1, "Click this link", and you can see a small window pop out. Click play to hear the sentence and then type your answer in the blank next to Guess. Click Check to see if your answer is right.
Next, I want to introduce my favorite two quizzes "sentence jumbles" and "no letters".
Both of the two are not merely English tests. They also test how good your memory is!
Sentence jumble is a game that you have to choose a sentence from (A), (B), or (C) each time and make a correct sentence that the grammar is correct and is the same as the original text.
No letter game seems a little scary but I believe many students may find it challenging and exciting!
Type one word each time in the blank below Guess, and click Check to see if it is in the original text!
How Can Breaking News English Help Language Learning?
Well, I believe before students start to play those games, teacher can lead the class to discuss the news they read. The purpose of doing this is to make students feel they are using instead of learning the language. And this is what people do in real life. They watch the news, read newspaper, and talk about it with others. if you ask the student to work on their own, there must be a dead silence in the classroom. However, if you make two students work in pair, you will see the heat among the groups because they have to discuss the text and exchange their opinions. The team work and the desire often create intensity when there is a competition to see which team can complete the tasks the fastest! You will be surprised to feel their enthusiasm in the classroom!
Do you find any game is interesting to you and might be used in your class?
Try it today and leave your message about if your students like them or not!
